Hospital care

Once a patient is admitted, Relevium's Emergency Medicine specialist becomes the treating physician of record. That is the person who rounds on the patient every day, orders and interprets the studies, calls the specialists and decides — with them — the plan. Nobody has to repeat their history to a new doctor each morning.

This is different from the default in most hospitals, where an admitted international patient is managed by rotating staff and the family has to reconstruct what happened. With Relevium there is one number to message and one physician who answers for the case.

Our network covers 18 medical and 15 surgical specialties — from cardiology, neurology and infectious diseases to orthopedic, neurosurgical and vascular surgery — at Hospital Clínica Bíblica and Hospital Internacional La Católica. Specialist evaluation is typically available in under six hours, because we call the specialist directly rather than placing a request in a queue.

Fewer hand-offs mean fewer duplicated studies and, in our experience, a shorter length of stay. For the insurer this translates into a cleaner case; for the patient, into getting home sooner.

A daily clinical update in plain English for the family, and structured reports for the insurer at every milestone: admission, progress, discharge and fit-to-fly. All costs are mapped to standard CPT codes in a single consolidated invoice — not a stack of separate provider bills to reconcile after the fact.

Nothing about the case is published. Reports go only to the patient and, with consent, to the insurer or the doctors back home.

When surgery is needed, Relevium performs the pre-surgical risk assessment (ASA, Lee, Caprini and functional capacity), coordinates the surgical team and anesthesia, and follows the patient through recovery. In intensive care the treating physician keeps the family informed and the insurer's case manager updated on the expected course.

For longer admissions — orthopedic trauma, complex infections, cardiac events — we plan the discharge from the first days: medication in English, follow-up appointments, and the fit-to-fly and medical-escort decisions for the trip home.
